If a patient loses a tooth, we insert dental implants that provide a fixed hold. This allows us to restore the function and aesthetics of the natural tooth. In the past, this had to be replaced by a Bridge or Denture, but nowadays, thanks to modern dentistry, there are long-lasting Dental implants that come very close to the natural tooth. At our dental practice in Zurich, we can treat not only single tooth gaps but also multiple tooth gaps with long-lasting dental implants.
We want you to benefit from your new, radiant smile in the long term and therefore make sure that your new Dental implants are durable.

Frequently asked questions about Dental implants
When is the use of Dental implants possible?
Dental implants can only be used if the jaw has completed its growth. If the jaw is still growing, it can still shift. In this case, a permanent result cannot be achieved. At our dental practice in Zurich, we can determine for you individually when your jaw growth is complete. We also use 3D X-rays to determine whether the height and width of your Jawbone are suitable for the insertion of Dental implants. If this is not the case, we can build up the missing structures artificially by means of augmentation.
When is brushing allowed again after dental implant surgery?
Tooth cleaning may be carried out immediately after the insertion of Dental implants. Thorough dental hygiene is particularly important the day after treatment, as otherwise inflammation can occur. However, you should make sure that you clean your dental implant gently with care.
When can you return to work after dental implant surgery?
In general, you will be able to return to work the day after treatment. However, you should avoid intense physical work outs and activity for 1 week, as this can interfere with wound healing. If necessary, we will issue you with a medical certificate after the treatment.
What do I need to consider after dental implantation?
After dental implant surgery, you should initially pay attention to thorough dental hygiene and avoid hard and acidic foods for the first 3 days. We recommend that you are always aware of the fact that you have undergone a surgical procedure when it comes to your behavior immediately after treatment. Because Dental implants are in no way inferior to the resilience of natural teeth, you are not restricted in any other way.
Are the costs of Dental implants covered by health insurance?
Swiss health insurance only covers the total cost of a dental implant in exceptional cases. These include, for example, a dental accident, trauma, malformation of the jaw or a disease caused by a tumor. If you have supplementary dental insurance, the costs of treatment may be covered.

Procedure of a dental implantation
After a thorough consultation at our dental practice in Zurich, we will discuss with you the options available to you for treatment with a dental implant.
With the help of 3D X-rays (DVT), we are able to plan the implantation precisely. This modern diagnostic method allows us to gain a comprehensive overview of the condition of your Tooth and jaw in advance. Bone width and height can be pricesly measured before surgery resulting in better surgical outcomes.
At our dental practice in Zurich, implants are inserted by specialists under local anesthesia, but we also offer nitrous oxide or general anesthesia on request, which has proven to be a particularly effective method for treating anxious patients. As soon as the Implant has been inserted, we close the wound with small sutures, which are removed after about 7-10 days in our dental practice in Zurich. The healing phase, during which the implant integrates into the Jawbone, usually lasts around three to six months. The crown is then placed on the artificial Tooth root, which can then be fully loaded again.
We use the highest quality standards
At our dental practice in Zurich, we only use high-quality Swiss materials and instruments that have proven themselves over the long term in international dentistry. In this way, we not only meet the quality requirements of our patients, but also guarantee a high level of safety during our treatments. We only use Swiss implants (titanium or ceramic), which are characterized by a particularly long service life and are among the best products worldwide in terms of aesthetics, stability and compatibility. These are the best-researched implant systems with positive results.
In our dental practice at Löwenplatz, we rely exclusively on Swiss dental implants from the world market leader Straumann (Basel, CH), which have been continuously developed over decades and have proven themselves worldwide. Straumann's high-end dental implants are characterized by their first-class quality, such as the patented surface coating for faster bone healing.
Depending on the individual complexity, Gums and bone availability, the costs including the custom-made, screw-retained all-ceramic implant crown vary between CHF 3`900 and CHF 4`5000.
Dental implant material
Titanium as a Dental implant
Because the implant material titanium bonds securely with the bone and is highly biocompatible, it is currently still the most commonly used material for dental implants. In countless studies and based on long-term experience, titanium has proven to be the ideal material for any medical need. It is not only used successfully in dentistry, but also in orthopaedics and trauma surgery.
Upon contact with oxygen, titanium forms a protective layer of titanium dioxide within a few milliseconds. This prevents the chemical exchange between metal and tissue and possible rejection of the implant by the body can be ruled out. Titanium is an impressively biocompatible material. In our dental practice in Zurich, we only use implants from the premium manufacturer Straumann Group, as these bond better with the bone cells thanks to their innovative SLActive® surface. As a result, the healing time is significantly shorter than with implants from other manufacturers.
Zirconium oxide/ ceramic implants
Dental implants made of zirconium oxide, also known as ceramic implants, are relatively new on the market and are ideally suited for use in both the anterior and posterior teeth due to their aesthetics, biocompatibility and stability. The material is not only impressive due to its white shade, which is particularly suitable for patients with receding gums, but also because hardly any plaque builds up on it. Ceramic implants are also ideal for allergy sufferers.Ceramic implants play a big role in biological dentistry with holistic treatment approaches.
